EUTurbines Response to the Public Consultation on the Renewable Energy Framework for the Decade Ahead
18 June 2026
EUTurbines’ response stresses that today’s renewable policy over‑prioritises variable sources and must better integrate renewables beyond electricity while strengthening support for dispatchable solutions such as renewable and low‑carbon gases.
High shares of variable renewables face growing constraints due to limited flexibility, and incomplete market frameworks for dispatchable capacity.
A more pragmatic framework is needed to support sector coupling and renewable gases, enabling cost-efficient integration, SoS and competitiveness.
A resilient, cost‑efficient transition requires an integrated energy system combining electrification with renewable gases and heating and cooling, supported by clear targets, practical regulation and investment certainty. Renewable fuels should not be restricted to specific sectors, as their use in power generation and cogeneration is essential for balancing, system stability and climate neutrality.
