Position Paper for an Industrial Policy that Supports Export-Oriented Industries

EUTurbines, the industry association representing European manufacturers of gas and steam turbines and compressors, supports the EU’s climate objectives and the ambition to establish a level playing field at global level. However, the current design of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entails substantial administrative and financial burdens and provides limited solutions for export-oriented industries.
In this Position Paper, EUTurbines, calls for a workable and proportionate CBAM framework that considers the specific characteristics of complex industrial value chains and export-oriented manufacturing and does not hamper the EU’s energy security goals.
