Industry4Europe Joint Paper: Together for a future proof European industry

In her “Agenda for Europe”, President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen announced a plan for a new European industrial strategy. In order to contribute to this strategy, Industry4Europe has published a Joint Paper presenting concrete proposals to ensure that Europe remains the centre of a leading, innovative and sustainable industry.

Published on 26 November 2019, the Joint Paper lays out the key aspects needed in an effective long-term European industrial strategy. With 149 signatories, the document represents the views of a wide range of European industrial sectors.

More precisely, the Joint Paper gives recommendations for seven different priority policy fields: business-friendly policy environment, sustainability, upgraded skills and training, enhanced R&I, investment and improved access to finance, reinforcement of the European Single Market and strengthening of trade and international market access. The combined recommendations of the Joint Paper ensure a strong, sustainable and competitive European industry.

As co-rapporteur for the research and innovation section, EUTurbines has been deeply involved in the preparation of the paper, which well mirrors the associations’ position on the need for a strong European industrial strategy.

Industry4Europe is a coalition consisting of 149 member organisations from all sectors of the European industry. Founded in 2017, the advocacy alliance seeks to guide the European Commission during the establishment of a European Industrial Strategy and to give industry-specific recommendations.
